Professor Simon Ash
I became involved with dental sleep medicine DSM (snoring & obstructive sleep apnoea) around 25 years ago working in a multidisciplinary team, Chest medicine, ENT, Oral surgery and Orthodontics at Whipps Cross Hospital.
Undergraduate trained at The London then went into general practice, with a part time clinical assistant post before returning to secondary care. Postgrad Orthodontics at the Eastman then Senior Registrar at UCH.
From 1988 to 2013, I was Consultant Orthodontist at Whipps Cross & Hon Consultant at The London.
In specialist private practice I developed a special interest in dental sleep medicine. Between 2013 & 2017 this was almost entirely DSM.
I have written several articles in peer reviewed journals, presented papers and lectured widely on DSM in the UK and abroad.
I invented the Somnowell Chrome cobalt mandibular advancement device and was a co-founder and until recently a director of Somnowell Ltd.
I continue to teach postgraduate Orthodontics and Dental Sleep Medicine
